WRITING




الكِتابُ / Writing

1ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): الكُتُبُ بَساتِينُ ‏العُلَماءِ.
1– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘Books are the gardens of scholars.’
[Ghurar al-Hikam, no 991]

2ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): نِعمَ المُحَدِّثُ الكتابُ.
2– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘A book is the best of conversers.’
[Ghurar al-Hikam, no. 9948]


الكِتابُ


WRITING




3ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): مَن تَسَلّى بالكُتبِ لم تفُتْهُ سَلوَةٌ.
3– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘Whoever amuses themselves with books, amusement will not miss them.’
[Ghurar al-Hikam, no 8126]

الكِتابَةُ وَشخصِيَّةُ الكاتِبِ / Writing and the Personality of the Writer

4ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): رَسولُكَ تَرجُمانُ عَقلِكَ، وكِتابُكَ أبلَغُ ما يَنطِقُ عَنكَ.
4– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘Your messenger is the interpreter of your intellect, and your letter is more eloquent at expressing your true self.’
[Nahj al-Balagha, Saying 301]

5ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): كِتابُ الرَّجُلِ عُنوانُ عَقلِهِ وبُرهانُ فَضلِهِ.
5– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘A man’s book is the title of his intellect and the proof of his virtue.’

6ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): عُقولُ الفُضَلاءِ في أطرافِ أقلامِها.
6– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘The intellects of the meritorious are around their pens.’
[Ghurar al-Hikam, no. 6339]

الحَثُّ عَلى كِتابَةِ العِلمِ / Enjoinment of Writing Knowledge

7ـ رسولُ اللهِ‏ِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ): قَيِّدُوا العِلمَ بالكِتابِ.
7– The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘Capture knowledge through writing.’
[Kanz al-`Ummal, no. 29332]

8ـ رسولُ اللهِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ): اكتُبُوا العِلمَ قبلَ ذَهابِ العُلَماءِ، وإنّما ذَهابُ العِلمِ بِمَوتِ العُلَماءِ.
8– The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘Write down knowledge before the departure of the scholars, for the departure of knowledge ensues from the death of scholars.’
[Kanz al-`Ummal, no. 28733]

9ـ الإمامُ الصّادقُ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : اكتُبُوا ؛ فإنّكُم لا تَحفَظُونَ حتّى تَكتُبوا.
9– Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, ‘Write, for you will not learn until you write.’
[al-Kafi, v. 1, p. 52, no. 9]

10ـ الإمامُ الصّادقُ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): القَلبُ يَتَّكِلُ علَى الكِتابَةِ .
10– Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, ‘The heart relies on writing.’
[al-Kafi, v. 1, p. 52, no. 8]

ثَوابُ التَّأليفِ وَالكِتابَةِ / The Reward of Authorship and Writing

11ـ رسولُ اللهِ‏ِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ): المؤمنُ إذا ماتَ وتَرَكَ وَرَقةً واحِدَةً علَيها عِلمٌ تَكونُ تِلكَ الوَرَقةُ يَومَ القِيامَةِ سِتراً فيما بَينَهُ وبَينَ النّارِ، وأعطاهُ اللّه‏ُ تباركَ وتعالى بكُلِّ حَرفٍ مَكتوبٍ علَيها مَدينَةً أوسَعَ مِن الدُّنيا سَبعَ مَرّاتٍ .
11– The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘If a believer dies and leaves behind one piece of paper that has knowledge on it, that paper will be a guard for him on the Day of Judgment between him and the Hellfire, and Allah Almighty will give him for every word written on that paper a city seven times larger than the world.’

12ـ الإمامُ الصّادقُ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ): مَن كَتَبَ عَنِّي عِلماً أو حَديثاً لم يَزَلْ يُكتَبْ لَهُ الأجرُ ما بَقِيَ ذلكَ العِلمُ والحَديثُ.
12– The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘Whoever writes knowledge or a narration on my authority, a reward will continuously be written for him as long as that knowledge and narration exists.’

أدَبُ الكِتابَةِ / The Etiquette of Writing

13ـ رسولُ اللهِ‏ِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ): بِسمِ اللّه‏ِ الرَّحمنِ الرَّحيمِ مِفتاحُ كلِّ كِتابٍ .
13– The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘
[The phrase] In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful is the key for every book.’
[al-Durr al-Manthur, v. 1, p. 27]

14ـ الإمامُ الصّادقُ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): لا تَدَعْ بسمِ اللّه‏ِ الرَّحمنِ الرَّحيمِ وإن كانَ بعدَهُ شِعرٌ.
14– Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, ‘Do not leave out ‘In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful’ even if what follows is poetry.’

المُكاتَبَةُ / Correspondence

15ـ رسولُ‏اللّه‏ِ (صَلَّيَ اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَ آلِهِ): رَدُّ جَوابِ‏الكتابِ‏ حَقٌ ‏كَرَدِّ السَّلامِ.
15– Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘The reply to a letter is a right
[incumbent upon one] just like the reply to a greeting (salam).’
[Kanz al-`Ummal, no. 29294]

16ـ الإمامُ الصّادقُ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): التَّواصُلُ بينَ الإخوانِ في الحَضَرِ التَّزاوُرُ، والتَّواصُلُ في السَّفَرِ المُكاتَبةُ.
16– Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, ‘The contact between brothers is maintained by visiting each other when present, and the contact during travel is maintained through correspondence.’

17ـ الإمامُ الصّادقُ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): رَدُّ جَوابِ الكتابِ واجِبٌ كَوُجوبِ رَدِّ السَّلامِ.
17– Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, ‘The reply to a letter is obligatory just like the obligation of replying the greeting (salam).’
